Applications are invited for the position of Professor of Cyber Security research in the Faculty of Computing, Engineering and Science. Applicants would be welcomed from experts in the field of Cyber Security particularly those with a specialism in Computer Forensics or Computer Network Defence
This position is part of a significant growth investment programme for new or complementary areas of research expertise which would contribute to the Computing & Mathematics submission to REF2020. We are seeking to improve on the quality and critical mass of the submission to REF 2020 by recruiting a number of academic posts of which these are the first. The successful applicants must have a substantial publication track record in recognised journals but also a substantive record in gaining funding for their research from either national research councils or EU research monies such as Horizon 2020.
The Faculty has well equipped laboratories and facilities in digital forensics, chip off work, mobile forensics and penetration testing. The successful applicant will have an independent but complementary portfolio to expand on the current successful research areas. The ethos of the Faculty is to enable sustainable research which contributes to enhancing the profile of the University, enriching and supporting the student educational experience and contributing to the businesses and organisations both within the region and internationally.
With continuing strong demand nationally and internationally for research in our core expertise areas, knowledge transfer and teaching programmes, particularly at master and professional levels, we are seeking to appoint a professor to join our research team. The particular emphasis for theis post will be to lead research and knowledge transfer in the applicant’s research area to support the expansion of our research and knowledge transfer activities and to ensure its reputation in both national and international markets. Initial emphasis will be placed on the applicant to establish a sustainable research portfolio but with an expectation to contribute to the teaching activities in cyber security.
The Title of Professor will be reviewed every five years and is only applicable whilst employed by the University of South Wales.

This position is primarily based at the Treforest Campus of the University of South Wales but with a requirement to work flexibly at other Univeristy sites.
