Lecturer in Legal Practice

The Faculty of Business and Society is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Legal Practice with a specialism in the law, procedure and practice of civil litigation. Whilst the requirements for the role are not prescriptive, applicants would be welcomed from those with experience of establishing pro bono activities such as law clinic experience, and the ability to contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and/ or postgraduate and professional law courses. The ability to teach on any of the following areas would also be an advantage; expert witness, dispute resolution, professional legal practice skills (including; advocacy, practical legal research, writing, drafting, interviewing and advising) and law foundation subjects.
Civil litigation is a core area of law for the school, across both the LLB Legal Practice and the Legal Practice course (LPC), and there are ambitious plans in place to embed clinical education across the entire law portfolio. The Legal Advice Clinic involves students working with live clients, and providing face-to-face advice in- house under the supervision of university staff, providing students with practical legal knowledge in relation to social justice, social welfare and civil matters.
The successful candidate will be a practicing Solicitor, Barrister or Chartered Legal Executive with relevant experience in clinical education and/or client care.
